This brief video will show you how to access the “Teaching in Blackboard” online training. Before you begin, you will need to have your Athens State Blackboard login credentials and your Athens State email credentials. Once you have those, you can start by going to the Athens homepage at www.athens.edu. When on the home page, if you scroll down on the right hand side, you'll see a Blackboard icon. Clicking on that icon will take you to a Blackboard login page, and clicking on the image in the middle will allow you to login and go to the system.
You can additionally get to this system directly by just going to the URL bar and typing in www.athens.blackboard.com and hitting Enter. It takes you to the exact same login page. Here, you will need to go ahead and log in using your Blackboard login credentials given to you by Athens State University.
Once signing in, you will be taken to a login page that looks similar to this one, although your areas may not be exactly the same. All these areas should be located on that main page. The two primary ones you're looking for are the “My Courses” box and the “My Organizations” box. The “My Courses” box should list all of the courses that you will be teaching in either this semester or the upcoming semester. These courses will go away at the end of each semester. The “My Organizations” box contains shells that are unique to certain organizations on campus. The links in the “My Organizations” boxes will never go away.
Right now, what you want to do is look for the academic technology services under the “My Organizations” box. Go ahead and click on that link. Once you enter the academic technology services area, you'll see an “On-Demand” Training over on the left hand side. Clicking on that link will take you to the “Instructional Technology Courses” folder, and clicking on that link will take you into the “Teaching Courses in Blackboard.” You can begin the “Teaching Courses in Blackboard” training by clicking on the folder link. Once you get to Module 1, you can click on the folder and begin the training. From this point, the instruction should be self-explanatory and walk you through how to be successful in completing this training.
