In Windows:
Full screenshot - Press the Print Screen button.
Currently active window – Ctrl+Alt+Print Screen
Screen Snip – Included with Windows and located in the notifications area, this tool will allow you to take different types of screen captures such as rectangular, active window, full screen and free form. See step-by-step guide below.
You will not see or hear anything, but the screenshot has now captured the screen in the Windows clipboard. You can paste the screenshot into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or MS Paint by pressing Ctrl+V.
In macOS:
Full screenshot – Shift+Command+3
Portion of the screen – Shift+Command+4, then drag the cross hair to select the area you want to capture.
Window or Menu – Shift+Command+4+Spacebar. The pointer will change to a camera icon, click the item you wish to capture.
On an iPhone or iPad:
With Home Button - Press the home button and the on/off button at the same time.
No Home Button - Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time.
There will be a camera sound and a short animation. Go to your camera roll to see the screenshot you have just taken.
On an Android device:
Press the side button and the volume down button at the same time.
Since there are numerous manufacturers of Android devices, your device may have a different screen capture method. Check with your device manufacturer or perform a web search for ‘screenshot brand android phone.’
Using Screen Snip in Windows
Click the Notifications icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
If you see the word Expand, click it. More tiles will appear.
Click Screen Snip.
In the top, middle of your screen the Screen Snip options will appear. Rectangular selection is the default (seen in blue.)
The screen will dim. Click, hold and drag your cursor over the area you wish to capture. Let go when you have the full area selected. The screen will return to normal.
Click the Start Button and type “Paint”
Click the Paint App.
Click, hold and drag the small box at the corner of the white area until it is smaller than you estimate your capture to be.
Click the Paste (clipboard) button.
Go to File – Save As – JPEG Picture
Select where to save the file, name it and click Save.
Here the file is saved in This PC-Pictures-Saved Pictures and named Screen Cap.
