If you are experiencing issues with the Outlook mobile app indicating your account is locked, follow the instructions below:
Remove Athens State accounts from Outlook Mobile app:
- Open Microsoft Outlook app
- Tap your profile icon (top left)

Tap the gear icon (Settings)
- Choose General > Accounts
- Select the email account you want to remove
- Scroll down and tap Delete or Remove Account
- Confirm removal for all apps on the device
Remove Athens State account from Microsoft Authenticator app:
iPhone
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app
- Delete all Athens State University Microsoft (Outlook) accounts by choosing the account
- Tap the gear/settings icon (top right)
- Choose Remove account
- Confirm removal for all apps on the device
Android
- Navigate to your Android's phone settings > Manage Accounts (Accounts and backup)
- In the Manage accounts list, delete all Athens State University Microsoft (Outlook) accounts
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app and confirm your Athens State accounts are no longer listed
- If you see Athens State accounts, tap the gear/settings icon (top right)
- Choose Remove account > Confirm
- After removing the accounts from Outlook mobile app and Microsoft Authenticator, open Android's phone Settings.
- In Settings, choose Apps > Outlook
- In the Outlook app info menu, scroll down and click Storage
- In the Storage menu, choose Clear Data and Clear Cache
This will delete your user data, logins, and settings for other accounts in the Outlook app only. - After clearing the Data and Cache, reboot the phone.
Adding the Account
After the phone is rebooted, open the Outlook mobile app and choose to add an account. If you see a suggested account, choose Skip and manually type in your email address ending in my.athens.edu.
When adding your Athens State account, if prompted, choose Not a Microsoft 365 account button > Change Account Provider > Microsoft 365, then sign in.
If that does not work, uninstall and reinstall the Authenticator and Outlook mobile apps on your phone.
For the Outlook app on your phone, enter your (my.athens.edu) manually.
You can also log into your email account using a computer or phone web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge) for the meantime. You may need to clear your web browser's cache and cookies.
