At the conclusion of each semester, instructors are required to submit final grades for their students into the university’s Student Information System (SIS), Banner. The grading system accommodates the following letter grades: A, B, C, D, F, W (withdrawal), and I (incomplete).
NOTE: Students receiving an Incomplete must meet a certain criteria including the amount of the course completed. Please review the Grading Policy in the policy library to ensure students are eligible for an incomplete before assigning it.
In accordance with institutional policy, instructors must provide the last date of attendance for any student receiving an F, W, or I if it has not already been pre-populated by the system. For online courses, the last date of attendance is determined the most recent date on either of the following options:
- the most recent submission of an assignment or activity in the Canvas LMS
- any direct communication received from the student
- any attendance in live courses or live synchronous sessions for courses
Once you have evaluated your students’ performance based on your course’s grading scheme and determined their letter grade, use the instructions below to accurately record and submit grades to the university registrar’s office.
