The three most common reasons for receiving a Banner 9 Authentication Error are:
- Exiting the Banner 9 application by hitting the back arrow and then attempting to login to Banner 9 without closing and reopening browser
- Your session timing out after 2 hours of inactivity and then attempting to login to Banner 9 without closing and reopening browser
- Using a desktop shortcut or browser bookmark created by either dragging the URL to the desktop or bookmarking the Banner 9 application from the browser

Retyping the URL ( https://appnav.athens.edu ) in your internet browser's address bar and pressing enter should resolve the issue. Also, to prevent this error from occurring with a shortcut or bookmark, instructions for creating a Banner 9 shortcut and bookmark are attached at the bottom of this article.
